I have taken music together classes for years with both of my children (now 7 and 3 1/2). As a singer, it is a fun way for me to connect with my kids and to ensure that music plays a regular role in our home and in their lives. My children love the music, the movement, the instruments, the presence of other children, and the dynamic instructors. I enjoy observing how each of them has gradually acquired basic aptitude and appreciation for music in different ways. I always recommend the class to other families.

Both Nora and Mac's innate natural attraction to & interest in music unquestionably has been developed and enhanced by our participation in Music Together. And, my own understanding about how children need and enjoy music has definitely grown as well. We are entering our tenth semester of MT; that says more than anything about our love of making music together!

Taking classes through Music Together of Arlington has been a wonderful experience for my son. I initially chose Music Together over some other local music programs because of the quality of the music on the CDs which I thought was very appealing and fun for both of us to listen to many times over. I liked the mix of well known traditional songs with newer songs written for the program. We stayed with Music Together because of the wonderful teachers who all take the time to get to know each child in the class and bring their own personal touches to the curriculum.

Over the years that we have participated in Music Together, my son has blossomed musically. He has developed a wonderful sense of rhythm and will play along fairly accurately with any song as well as moving his body fast during upbeat songs and slowly with softer music. He also makes up words to his own songs based on familiar tunes and has even begun to "write" his own songs in a notebook. As a parent, I have frequently been able to motivate him to do simple daily tasks (getting dressed, brushing teeth, etc) by singing a song about it -- which leaves us both feeling good rather than frustrated and angry. Thank you to Heather and all the Music Together of Arlington teachers for helping us expand the role of music in our daily lives.

2+ years of Music Together classes

Bringing Darrien and then Theo to Music Together with Heather has been a highlight of my motherhood. Seeing my boys so happy and enjoying and really feeling the music gave me such a warm and satisfying feeling. I actually cried on Darrien's last day of class when he "graduated because I knew I would miss the bond I felt he and I had when we were there. Lucky I get to bring Theo now!!

Not only did we enjoy every minute of Music Together with Heather when we were actually with her, we played Music Class at home all the time and Darrien was always "Heather", lined up me and all is stuffed animals as the students and started each song with his pitch pipe.

"Both of my kids loved their Music Together experiences. My son participated for two years and my daughter began when she was literally just weeks old and continued for two and a half years. I really enjoyed seeing their personalities emerge through the music--my son would sing the "Hello" song endlessly and couldn't wait for instrument time.
