Mixed Ages
This is the essential Music Together® class, one that a child can attend from birth through age four through all nine song collections. This basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers—grouping children of a variety of ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring musical instruments. Any caregivers—parents, grandparents, nanny—can bring the children. The whole family is welcome for this important family music experience.
Babies
This class is exclusively for infants who are pre-crawling and their caregivers. The music activities and materials are specially designed for parents who want to learn as much as possible about music development in babies. Classes will focus on learning how to be musical with your baby by incorporating sound play, singing to and with your babies, movement activities and a special class dedicated to infant massage which will further demonstrate how the power of touch plays an important role in baby's development and parent/child bonding. Meet other parents of newborns, learn some fascinating music activities you can recreate at home with your baby and discover fun and new ways to interact musically with your baby!
4-5 Year Olds
This class is designed for children who have a lot of Music Together experience. A minimum of three collections (e.g. Bongos, Fiddle, Maracas) is recommended. If your child has already experienced the current collection, great! This class will take songs to the next level and build on your child’s early musical learning to strengthen and expand music competence. Even if it has been a long time since your child has done Music Together, he or she still has the strong foundation of music competence that we will build on in this class. This is not a drop-off class. The participation of a cherished adult is still important to your child’s musical development. Every activity will be planned with the experienced four and five-year-old in mind. This class is taught by the director of Music Together of Arlington, Heather Mansfield, who has many years of experience working with this age group. New to Music Together?
